There is a new gallery program installed on the Blog that I am currently testing called NextGen Gallery. Here are the Pros and Cons that I have identified when compared to 4Images, the current gallery software. I would love any input you may have. I have a personal fondness for 4Images, but I will admit the software is getting dated and does not have a rapid upgrade cycle. Both Galleries can be accessed from the Right Sidebar —->>>
PROs
a) Interesting Interface, Web 2.0
b) Fully Integrated with the Blog
c) Fully Integrated with Google Image Search (i.e. images will appear in Google Image Searches)
d) No need to register to use various options (i.e. LightBox, Postcard etc)
e) You can “right-click” images and save to your desktop
2. CONS
a) No Lightbox Mod, you cannot create a list of favorites
b) Cannot Leave Comments on Individual Images
c) Cannot Rate Individual Images
d) Cannot See “What is new” when you log on
e) Cannot send a “postcard”
f) Users cannot upload images

I love Icy Hot Hunks. Thank you for bringing it back. The gallery the way it is set up now is great, but it would be nice to add the feature of slideshow to it. Being able to go from one enlarged pic to another is great. If that feature of the new gallery could be added to the original, I for one would be very happy. If not, keep the original gallery. Having the lightbox and being able to see just the new pics added since I was last here, is worth a bit of aggrevation. Again, thanks for bringing this site back, it is wonderful!

I think you should stick with the old way

I like the way you think IcyHOt. Keep the original galleries and if you can add the slideshow…awesome.

Well I fixed an issue with E-cards not working today (sorry about that) after updating the “google” search friendly urls. We are keeping the original galleries.

Ariesabs, you make great points. I did a little research and it looks like I can add a similar slideshow feature to the existing 4Images Software. I also found a mod to update the URL lines to “search engine” friendly URLs so I am seriously thinking of keeping the current system and ditching the new.
The New Gallery is proving to be a little cumbersome on the back-end. I am not sure it is well designed for a system with 6000+ images
